God's provision of a house for Elizabeth and her family

Today the 14th of February, we rejoiced with Elizabeth that yesterday she was accepted as a tenant of her first house in Australia. Elizabeth arrived from Sudan as a refugee 6 months ago and has been living in her sister's house in the street near Holy Trinity. When her sister moved to Frankston Elizabeth and her family continued living in the house. The landlord gave her notice to move out as she was not legally entitled to stay there after her sister had left. Two weeks ago we were told that Elizabeth and her family would be evicted on the following Tuesday. Three members of the congregation began a search to find her a house close to the church so she and her children could continue worshipping and sharing in the parish family. Each day went by and no eviction happened. We learnt of the support of AMES Settlement group and New Hope Organisation had been giving Elizabeth and her family. Finally last week the last ultimatum came, "Accept the house we offered you in Springvale a month ago, for we have nothing else". Elizabeth stuck to her guns. She did not want to move from Holy Trinity, she believed that God had a house for her near to the church and that we would find it. The last house on the list was open for viewing on Saturday at 11AM. God gave us a Christian Estate Agent who, on hearing our support for Elizabeth and  her story, said he would recommend her to the owners that afternoon above all the other applicants. What rejoicing at the 10:30 service today. Elizabeth began, through her daughter Mary interpreting, to tell us something of the pain and agony she had been through in Sudan, from losing her husband in the fighting, Mary's escape from the Sudan two years ago and Mary's sponsorship of Elizabeth and Mary's 5 siblings. We hope to have that story for publication later. Listen to the part of the service when we told of the news.
