2010 Series on 1 & 2 Thessalonians - Get ready for Jesus' return.

18th April Why the Thessalonikan church was not listed in Revelation 2 and 3 and how planting an Australian native garden is related to growing a new church. Greg leads us off into the study of 1 and 2 Thessalonians on how a new church grows and survives

25th April After Paul was forced out of Thessalonika by rioting Jews, the church was attacked by jealous Jews who slandered Paul and the church suffered persecution from their own countrymen. Knowing that his character was smeared, Paul reassures the Thessalonians that his teaching was pure and of God. Tavis, in this study of chapter 2, takes the message of Paul to the Thessalonians, and shows us how we are to apply it to our own lives in bringing the message of God to others.

2nd Mayl. Paul writes to the Thessalonians with words of encouragement. Greg leaves us with 5 points to take into our lives to strengthen our faith and witness to the risen Christ.

9th May. Paul writes to the Thessalonians on love, the dead and Christ's return. Sharon in this sermon unpacks Pauls command "to love, really LOVE, as Jesus did", opens up "Don't have grave concerns for those who have already died." and finally reminds us not to be caught napping when Jesus returns but to "continually live a life worthy of him until His return".

16th May. Greg in this sermon offers us a way of being accountable to ourselves to "share Christ as we share ourselves".

As Paul challenged the Thessalonians so Greg throws out a challenge to us.

30th May. Sharon challenges us today "The sort of life we live now will affect whether others too are ready for when Jesus returns"

Paul praises and comforts the Thessalonians who are being persecuted for their faith and tells them that judgement will happen when Jesus returns.

6th June. Greg takes us back to 1966 and then challenges us that "The mission fields still lie outside this builiding. What are we going to do to make our personal missionary task work?"

We are to give thanks for our History, to pray for those in the world who are in the Primary group facing persecution and death because they own up to being Christians and to pray that we are fit partners of God in Mission, to be the hands and feet of God in His Mission to let people know that He loves them.

13th June. Some of the Thessalonians expected Christ to return "any day now", and so saw no reason to trouble themselves with work. Paul's short answer in v10 was 'Whoever does not work should not eat"

Sharon leads us in this sermon in a study of work ethic. She homes in on four reasons for having a good work ethic.
